Free Stuff in Freeport Maine!

Updated: Feb 3

How much time should i plan to visit Freeport Maine?

Freeport, Maine is small town roughly 10-15 minutes north of Portland, and you can visit most of the attractions in a business day (8 hrs). This is the town where LL Bean was founded, and has a large shopping square in the middle of the town, and you guessed it a large LL Bean outlet store. You can shop LL Bean outlet stores and grab some food at several cozy eateries all within a 2-3 block area.

Free RV Parking

There is also free overnight RV parking (dry camping only) while you are visiting Freeport and shopping the LL Bean and other stores in the town.

Hidden Gem

Just 5 miles from Freeport, there is a town called Yarmouth. Yarmouth is the headquarters of the DeLorme mapping corporation. DeLorme hosts a FREE Exhibit called "Eartha". Eartha is the world's largest rotating globe, and weighs over 5600 pounds and is 41 feet wide. it was pretty cool place and would recommend you visit Eartha if you are in the Portland and Freeport area. DeLorme closes at 5 so plan your visit accordingly.

Tip:

When visiting Freeport, I would Arrive the night before, stay overnight in the free RV parking lot near LL Bean. The town seems to shut down a little early except for the LL Bean which is open 24x7, so I would start with the Eartha exhibit (closes at 5pm) and then finish up exploring Freeport before going to LL Bean since they are open 24x7. Enjoy Freeport!
