Natural Bridge State Park is located in Slade, KY. When you arrive in Slade there is a welcome center that has a cool caboose that you can tour before you make your epic hike up to Natural Bridge. Once you enter the park, there is a road that leads to the Natural Bridge hiking trail, but RV's will not fit in there unless they are class B or truck campers. No class C's or A's can fit in the parking lot, however there is a designated parking lot for these RV's. As you start the hike you will have a choice of the trail you can hike. We choose the shortest and easiest trail, but by the time I arrived to the top of Natural Bridge, my entire shirt was soaked. I would hate to see what I looked like if we had chosen a difficult trail. As you can see from the pictures there is a section before getting to the top of the bridge that you have to squeeze through. I am a big guy and made it through but if you are much bigger than me, then it may be challenging to get through the squeeze. Once we arrived to the top, the view was breathtaking! We were atop Red River Gorge in the Daniel Boone Forrest and could see for miles. We went in June, but will plan a trip to go back in the Fall for sure. Once you arrive to the top and take in the view while you rest you will see another overlook out in the distance. You can continue your journey across the bridge for another mile and arrive at this overlook, with a view as amazing as the view from the Bridge. All in all this hike was very well worth it, but if you don't want to make the hike and be soaked, you can take a sky lift up the mountain that begins .5 miles from the park entrance and will take you up the mountain within 600 ft of the Natural Bridge or the scenic overlook. The sky lift is open from the first week of April to the Last week of October. The State Park has a lodge with a restaurant, pool, canoeing, fishing, Kayaking, and miniature golf to name a few things. We consider this a hidden gem in the KY State Park system with free parking and park entrance.
