Welcome to Natural Bridge State Park: Where Even the RVs Have to Watch Their Size
Located in Slade, KY, this park offers a delightful surprise for visitors who are up for a bit of adventure. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by a welcome center featuring a cool caboose - because who doesn't love a quirky touch before embarking on an epic hike?
Just a heads up for RV owners: the road leading to the Natural Bridge hiking trail isn't exactly RV-friendly. Class B or truck campers are welcome, but sorry, no room for the big shots like class C's or A's in the main parking lot. Don't worry, though, there's a designated spot for those oversized RVs.
Choose Your Own Hiking Adventure
Once you hit the trail, you'll have the pleasure of choosing your route. We opted for the shortest and easiest trail, but let's just say my shirt ended up looking like I'd taken a dip in a swimming pool. Imagine if we'd gone for the difficult trail - I might have needed a snorkel!
Prepare for a bit of a squeeze before reaching the top of the bridge. I'm no small fry, but I managed to wriggle through. If you're on the larger side, well, good luck with that challenge!
Breathtaking Views and Sky Lifts
Once you conquer the hike and reach the top, the view is nothing short of breathtaking. The sights from atop Red River Gorge in the Daniel Boone Forest are worth every drop of sweat. Planning a return trip in the Fall? Count us in!
If you're not feeling the hike (or the sweat stains), fear not - there's a sky lift that can whisk you up the mountain within 600 ft of the Natural Bridge or the scenic overlook. Who says you can't enjoy the view without the workout?
